MEF University Faculty of Law will participate in the 33rd Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot this year with a team. The Faculty will be represented in the competition by a team consisting of Dilara Akbulut, Buse Yaren Ateş, Koray Ertuğrul, Melike Kır and Gizem Özdemir.

2025-2026 MEF UNIVERSITY TEAM

Dilara Akbulut:

Dilara Akbulut is an honor student in her fourth year at MEF University, Faculty of Law. Throughout her studies, she has completed internships at various law firms and corporations, gaining experience in multiple areas of law. During her internship at Arıkanlı Holding, she gained practical experience in the fields of labor law, enforcement and bankruptcy law and consumer law, and had the opportunity to closely observe the functioning of the legal departments of corporate structures. In her summer internship at Ernst & Young Turkey, she primarily focused on corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, and contract drafting processes.

She participated in an education seminar organized by the Capital Markets Board of Turkey, where she gained comprehensive knowledge of capital market instruments, the functioning of the financial system, supervisory mechanisms, and public offering procedures. Additionally, through her training at the Argüden Governance Academy, she developed an understanding of good governance principles, including transparency, accountability, and stakeholder participation. As a member of the Istanbul Bar Association Student Union’s Artificial Intelligence and IT Law Commission, she closely follows current developments in the field of technology and law. An active athlete, Dilara has played basketball for both the Istanbul University Sports Club youth academy and the MEF University Women’s Basketball Team. She has advanced proficiency in English.


Buse Yaren Ateş:

Buse Yaren Ateş is a second-year student at the Faculty of Law, MEF University. Through her minor program in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, she has strengthened her ability to analyze the impact of technological developments on the field of law. As part of the Erasmus exchange program, she studied at the University of Lisbon, where she deepened her international legal perspective and developed a comparative understanding of different legal systems. She is proficient in English at an advanced level and actively utilizes this competence in her academic work. In addition to her academic pursuits, Ateş has served as a student assistant at the MEF University Sports Coordination Office, contributing to the planning and implementation of sports organizations. As a professional archer under the Turkish Olympic Preparation Center, she has represented Turkiye at both national and international levels, achieving notable success. Furthermore, Ateş was selected as one of the young leaders in the “Yıldızlar Karması Program’ a collaborative initiative between Coca-Cola and the Ahbap Association, where she has taken an active role in community-oriented projects. Combining the discipline, determination, and focus gained through her athletic background with her legal education, she aims to integrate her academic knowledge with her professional development.


Koray Ertuğrul:

Koray Ertuğrul, a graduate of Halil Kale Science High School, is a third-year student at MEF University Faculty of Law (LL.B.), where he began his studies in 2022, and is also pursuing a minor in Political Science and International Relations. With a keen interest in law, diplomacy, and economics, Ertuğrul is developing himself through interdisciplinary studies on policy-making and global legal systems. He has been serving as President of the MEF Policy Club since 2024, aiming to create an environment of open dialogue and political awareness in this role. His main areas of interest include legal research, diplomacy, political history, and literature; he is fluent in English and has a basic knowledge of French.


Melike Kır:

Melike Kır is a third-year law student at MEF University Faculty of Law. Throughout her academic journey, she has placed great importance on improving herself in the field of law and gaining experience in various areas. As a Board Member of the MEF Law Club and the Head of the Organization Committee, she actively takes part in the planning and coordination of numerous events. Previously, she worked as an assistant at the University’s Office of Corporate Relations, and she is currently serving as a student assistant at the Career Support and Alumni Center. Melike is a highly social and communicative individual with strong teamwork skills and a continuous drive for learning and productivity. Having completed an internship during the past academic year, she had the opportunity to experience legal practice firsthand. Through the Vis Moot journey, she aims to expand this experience into an international context, combining her academic and professional growth within the global sphere of law.


Gizem Özdemir:

Gizem Özdemir, a third-year student at the Faculty of Law (LL.B.) of MEF University, concentrates her academic studies and professional experiences particularly on dispute resolution and international arbitration. Since her first year at the faculty, she has taken part in various and reputable law firms, gaining experience in different legal disciplines, and she is currently continuing her internship at a law firm in parallel with her education. During her middle school and high school years, she was involved in theatre and acting; through the acting training she received, she developed strong expression, communication, and representation skills. She has an advanced level of English and has the ability to communicate effectively in international legal environments.
